CGR Meeting 3rd June 2022
CGR Meeting 03 June 2022
The committee would like to say “thank you for all your support over the last three years and especially in celebrating the 60th Anniversary” what an outstanding weekend.
As you are aware the CGR Plymouth branch committee are standing down as per the Constitution which directs after two Years (Three because of Covid restrictions) that tenure expires.
Mr Neil Randall was elected as the interim chairman at the AGM and is to be the Central Committee interim chairman, he informed the AGM that he would prefer that Central and Plymouth CGR become separate organisations.
Friday 03rd June meeting, to be held in the West Hoe Pub is to be a formal meeting the Chairman and his Committee are asking for maximum support of as many members as possible.
A vote will be required on the follow topics:
Move the Plymouth away from Central Regroup control, which would mean taking no part in organising events for the Central Group, and not to be the focus point for other group’s activities.
OR keep the Plymouth CGR head of Central, to stay as the main focal point for all Commando Trained individuals and regional group’s activities.(after all Plymouth is the home of the Commando Gunner and attached Ranks)
These topics, will affect the way the committee conducts its functions and will affect all members therefore your vote as members is essential, and will not be actioned until voted on by members attending.
Other topics will be published on the meeting’s agenda, if you have any thoughts or question please do not hesitate in contacting the committee

RSM 60th update
CG60 Update
Good afternoon, I thought it prudent to provide a bit of an update on CG60. I aim to do this again a couple of weekends before the event. The format of the weekend is mostly unchanged with the key events remaining in place.
Friday - CGR reunion on the Barbican and the CGOMR in the Royal Citadel.
Saturday - the Freedom of the City parade will commence with the serving regiment stepping off from TRC at approximately 1040hrs to link up with the veterans at the previously agreed location. We (along with our colours and the RMAS band) will step off down Royal Parade at approx 1120hrs (the exact route is not for these means but Jerry has the details). The whole parade will march up and into the Royal Citadel. We will then receive an address from our distinguished guest.
Once complete the serving regiment will have a period of admin whilst the CGR will conduct a AGM. The bar will open once the address is finished and all weapons are accounted for, so much earlier than previously messaged
The families day / all ranks reunion will then commence, this will compromise of a through the generations weapon and equipment stands, fairground rides, food stalls, craft stalls and of course a regimental shop that will have memorabilia (including Faz’s rum) to purchase We also have the pipes and drums that will conduct a beating retreat before the live band kicks off.
Sunday - a service of thanksgiving will take place at the Minster of St Andrew, this is open to all. On completion we will then make our way to the Commando Gunner Memorial to conduct a memorial service. On completion all are invited in to the Royal Citadel for a curry lunch in the marquee, the bar will also be open. Due to sheer numbers we will have 250 portions available in a first come first serve basis.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours
Baz Green Regimental Sergeant Major.

Update on Restoration of L5 Pack Howitzer by Alan (Tommo) Thompson
Evening all
Today I had an email from the RSM allowing me to start restoration work on the 2 x L5 Pack H’s which are currently awaiting us in there new home!
The Packs are now in the REME metal smiths workshop which is now been given to us to complete our task.
Provo as requested the names of the people from CGR that are listed in the MOU to have an ID card produced so we can gain access and start phase 1.
I will contact the guys who require an ID card and finalise with the Provo how we will proceed with volunteers gaining entry as and when they have time to do so. We will not be allowed to just turn up and expect to facilitated. Planning is required.
I will send out general up dates to keep all those s interested up to speed on how we will proceed once myself, Jobby Brown and Willis have inspected the Guns and agree a plan of action.
We aim to have 1, if not both Packs on display/towed for our 60th anniversary celebrations next year.
A lot to do and very little time so hopefully a plan will be made very shortly enabling the restoration to start.
I am happy to answer or discuss any questions you may have so just ring or message me.
Tommo
